For any viewer to endure KBC-4 launched on Sony on the Big B's birthday would be like telling someone to take 3X valium before the surgery ! Its TRPs might have upset Big Boss' 1st episode ratings, but with the Tiger Army (in Hindi) vandalising what's left of the Big Boss participant location @ Lonavla, the Big Boss would be blocked forever. Just the way the Tiger Army is deciding what Mumbai University is to include in its curriculum ( sic) !
Ahem .. the family saga continues.
Well, the 1st episode (and the first week) happened to be a marketer's delight & TRP watchers - what with the 'computerji' terminals , the preferred Telecom operator and 3 other brands all visibily positioned within the studio premises and are part of scheduled, overpaid commercials.Never mind if the Song and Dance sequences jut in at regular intervals, what with an (ex) sports commentator and Bollywood actors trying to gather eyeballs.. the Big B looks tired (even on long shots) & just seems to have lost his touch, the participants tacky (and even immature as the promos go).. Showbiz is just not happening.. ! probably Junior B might be able to rake in some moolah the season round, or even the D-I-L. Like they say, its all in the family :)
Well, thats the way of life. ... till again, ciao..

Sponged away !
Its archaic to say "child is the father of man" - a cliche' that has since been used and abused many times over.
I was in the midst of filling out a feedback form for the UOI (Unit of Enquiry - a slab based teaching mode in the IB curriculum) for my little one in Grade 1 and I was suddenly stuck at one question. "write the title of the UOI for which the feedback is given" . Now I kinda knew what the UOI was, but wasnt sure about the exact title. I casually asked my daughter if she knew what her UOI was . She said "Unit Of Enquiry" . As expected. But I then prodded her saying if she knew what the title / subject of her UOI was . Not expecting her to reply, I was about to fill in, when she said "Increasing awareness of our personal ability and those of others allows our self identity to develop" !! So she said, in one breath, and she stumped me ! For life ! Allow the ramifications to seep in later. Just the entire sentence (and one that wasnt even part of the so-called prescribed syllabus) that she had picked up from the chart pasted on their black board the last 20 days, and probably read out a couple of times by the teacher, hit me hard. She had sponged it away to her brain, and recalled verbatim at the most veritable moment...

As L&D specialists, we often look at modes of increasing training effectiveness in androgogy. It will never cease me to amaze how a normal (ok, humbly specialist) teacher can deliver such a powerful learning in a classroom !

different strokes, different folks !
The weekend that was, allowed me some indulgence of sorts - a good book (read it cover to cover) and TV shows/music. Perhaps it was the flu that allowed me not to step out of home, even on Ganesh Chaturthi. Or perhaps the luxury of spending quality time with my little one. Perhaps both , coupled with the fact that I was (almost) home alone with hubby travelling Far East on a business trip :)
Incidentally, it was the 9/11 weekend, something that America doesn't want to forget in a hurry ; With all the furore of the Koran burning news dying down slowly but thankfully. Also, with the babri masjid judgement soon to be out, any more such incident couldnt have added more chaos than the the amalgamation of 4 festivals coming together did (Mount Mary fest, Ganesh, Eid and the jain Paryushan). Traffic jams be damned - even my little one says travelling by Local train is better and faster as she discovered once more on Saturday :) LOL !
well - the 3 TV shows / movies I watched had different interpretations of 9/11, or better the date which is now (in history) as important a dateline as AD or BC - 9/11 : "24" (last season - season 8 with Jack Bauer desperately trying to hold on to a taut storyline, but failing miserably), the re-run of "MNIK - My name is Khan" and "movie: World Trade Centre" with Nicholas Cage - all based on interpretations of terrorism and what it means to each of us, inherently or not.
But my heart went out to the book "The Truth about me : A Hijra Life Story" Brilliant. It even shames me to think that we used to despise these 'its' on the local train when they used to travel ticketless. And inspite of knowing that article 377 may or may not offer any respite to these 'mid-liners', we still continue to treat them as untouchables, harijans be damned ! Written by Revathi and translated by V Geetha, this book published by Penguin India offers little hope to the ostracised section of society, but offers an insider's guts to bring it all to the open : search for true love, socio-economic independence, and more importantly, acceptance of the family to a person thus born. Revathi - I may never get to meet u, but I salute your guts, Aravani.
As she says In one of her poems in Tamil, Revathi sums up this sense of alienation: “In the garden of love/ Was planted the seed of grace./ Watered with goodness/ A plant sprouted/ tender, caring flower – a flower/ That does not adorn/ Sacred sites and prayer rooms.” . Truth harsher than fiction ?

Tribute to a true teacher.
As the country recently celebrated teachers day in memory of the finest (?) teacher Dr. S Radhakrishnan, I was struck by a recent news report that more than 56% of the teachers surveyed (as part of a PR - driven annual media poll exercise) regretted that they had entered the teaching profession. More than 75% were unhappy with the salary payouts that this offered. And more than 64% took to the teaching profession more out of compulsion rather than passion. Given this fact, wonder if its any surprise that the “sarva Shiksha Abhiyan” of the government (which probably got more popular and ‘cool’ after Aamir khan’s reference to the same in the movie ‘Taare Zameen Par’) hasn’t really taken off the ground, or rather not delivered the results it was intended for. Or rather hasn’t been too visible except tier 3 cities / remote villages with or without computers. Agreed there might be those VC funded or self help group supported pockets far and between which might have ‘shown’ some progress. But doesn’t the role of the teacher in these pockets be of even more importance here?
Primary teachers (including my own mom) are the pillars of how an individual shapes out in society, not just for the aptitude (or academic interests) he pursues, but his habits, social behavior patterns, humanity (or the lack of it) and others which are probably not measured through any examinations that this individuals. They are academicians in their own right, and the behavior that the kids emote (or simply copy) stay with them for a lifetime. But the greater question is : Does the best role modeling happen only with teachers-students in a classroom environment ? Or do life skills, adaptability, basic etiquette happen beyond the four walls? Aren’t each of the experiences, friends, relatives who we interact / face each single day (esp during those formative years) mould us (for better or worse). We have been a student for as long as we remember, and the day we stop learning, the decay starts.
I distinctly remember one lady in my life who has probably (unconsciously) moulded most of my behavior and thinking patterns : a 3rd forum (5th standard) passout, this lady has had the grit and determination and aptitude to mould , amend, correct all those kids (and adults if they chose to) with loads of love and tons of positive attitude (which was annoying at times) : One could choose the skills / behavioural traits from secret recipe tips on how to make the perfect athirasam or thenkuzhal OR how to multitask while simultaneously order the grocery list OR deal with the errant maid while still listening to her sob story about her drunken husband but the same time ensuring she doesn’t go hungry by ‘dropping’ two hot dosas in the servant’s plate OR how to give away gifts even when you have very little OR ensuring that you wrap up all work and catch up on the afternoon nap while you are already thinking about the neighbour’s daughter’s cold and how a particular recipe of tulsi kashaayam would bring her relief. Or preparing her grand daughter for the forth coming stotram competition. Or packing in extra obattus under the banana leaf for her daughter’s house. And more and more . For 80 long years. For the last 60 odd years that she has been married; for the past 15 years that she has battled with several life threatening diseases. Even today, bed ridden that she is , she is completely in the know about all ongoing incidents around her, trivial or great : a great grand daughter born in the US, the latest Siddha medicine for arthritis as purported on Jaya TV , the arrival and plans of a grand son in law from the US , or Karunanidhi’s stand on the Rama Setu issue.
My maternal grandma.
A salute to her indomitable Spirit. A true teacher in every sense.

Have feet, will dance..
Yesterday, on the auspicious "Guru Poornima", my little one started her dance class.. Although I was tempted to wait till "Dushhera / Vijayadashami", she couldn't .. Probably due to peer pressure. Or probably to announce to the world that , well., have feet will dance ! :) all in all, a great experience for me as well as an onlooker as the tiny tots and their didis (older girls in the group) all danced to the perfect rhythm of the 'takita thai thai' ..
also learnt the nuances of 'mudras' (hand gestures) that form an all important part in the 'story telling ' process of Bharatanatyam .. It was fun to watch some of the little ones come dreary eyed (and probably still in their PJs) and perform the steps !

Tact vs. Truth
Recent incidents over the years has evoked a rather strong question : Are truth and tact mutually exclusive? A person, abetted by good circumstances decides to turn over a new lease of life, but in the process of ‘shedding’ the lies accumulated over the years and also yearns to accept, assimilate and deliver only truth has an unusual crisis, albeit not totally unexpected ? : The ability to use tact – with peers, superiors, and family as well.
Is the overpowering feeling of wanting to be straight and truthful with kids, family and friends alike the cause of people wanting to distancing from this person? Does the spouse feel too strongly that travelling away from home, and thus from this person a better way to ‘handle’ marriage? Do the inlaws feel that the once-in-a –month call is better made once a quarter to check on mundane matters? Does the sibling feel that ‘maintaining the status quo’ over long distance calls the best way to maintain a sense of neutrality within the relationship, and avoid a rather irretractable tread on ‘sensitive, complicated’ matters.
Does this mean truth is less important than tact? Does this also mean that the kid doesn’t ‘consider’ the rather harsh of this person as commonplace, and perhaps seek greener pastures, with people who whisper sweet nothings. Does this lead to a persona non grata within the psyche? To what extent does the ‘soul’ need to experience this trauma of the conflict between truth and tact ? Is there a middle path?
Perhaps, the new day shall shed some light on this, rather some answers – perhaps that would be a true 'moment of truth'

Or in the words of someone close , is the middle path dangerous and unwarranted? Is it the yearning for something new undesirable , and if truth is the way it is to be, is it still unacceptable?

the (high) road to heaven! ?
Read the following passage and answer questions given below:
The conceptual definitions of the constructs of interest warrant specia l attention. Constructs are the building blocks of theor y . W ithout well-developed conceptual definitions for the constructs, it is impossible to develop a coherent theor y . F or example we cannot develop a meaningful theoretical rationale for why construct A should be related to construct B if the exact meaning of each of these two constructs has not been established. Moreover it i s impossible to develop a valid measure of a construct that is not precisely defined.
Question. 5.
How does a construct become the building blocks of theories?
a) Because conceptual definitions of constructs warrant special attention
b) Because it is impossible to develop a valid measure of the construct when it is imprecisely defined
c) Theoretical rationale for relationships requires proper definition o f constructs
d) Not given in the passage
No, this is not the high road to heaven (with or without Smirnoff!)... its only a teeny weeny (example of a ) mock CAT entrance exam question (ePGP or the real one... doesn't matter)... How does it matter if the construct makes way to theories...I mean, in the real wordl, it would probably take all of the MBA mind (and effort) to probably wean a housewife (or her maid) from Detergent Brand X to Brand Y..
so, the quesion is: Does MBA only mean high tech PPT (or flash or youtube) presentations? Armed with a laptop and the ever-so-dependable Google, what does it take for an MBA (fresher / vteran) to fire up a cracker of a sales pitch in the boardroom ? guts? market intellience? Sheer luck ? or sucking upto the boss !
A Sales pitch that will not only deliver results, but also make that sureshot dent in the competitor's sales figures Quarter on Quarter.. of course, there is no magic potion to ensure that (even marriage doesnt guarantee anything, by the way!)... so, whay terrorise all wannabe MBA with these mind bending questions about stocks that Sheela and Gupta and Kumar and Reema so affectionately sold and bought and resold and re-purchased if it doesnt add up to the Big picutre !
Of course, we are talking being a millionaire soon after u graduate with an MBA (sooner, or rather a little late after u cough up the educational loan that took to pay the astronomical fees!) ... sure, money doesnt suck but are the crorepathis even worth (ok, the 95% of them) the salaries that they are paid... ET (economic times) recently reported that irrespective of markets still not picking up, the CEO salaries are sky-high...Is that the road to heaven? or perhaps, is it due to the the mint FOB (Fresh on board) MBAs working their a**es out to ensure the boss is happy?
Need to figure that out...!

No child's play, this !
They say gaming is universal, appeals to all age /gender levels, and turns the man back to a child. And a child to evolve into a man ! Feeding Frenzy 2 (FF2) certainly did it – mastering FF2 undoubtedly taught me more about corporate life than my career ever did : negotiation, use of the right tools, ducking when necessary, saving your skin in the teeth of danger, anticipating bigger enemies, preparing your strategy, and more than anything, the power of success ! Nintendo and Wii can take a breather…All this is so similar to life, except that life doesn’t give you a second chance, and FF2 does, er....almost :)
The little one at home almost pitted dad’s and mom’s capabilities and ensured we both fought against each other’s levels to reach the ultimate 60th level – the pinnacle of success
What children learn (and therefore force us to think about) is the level of perseverance and persistence required to win ! .. and she does just that on Tata Sky where she got her grandma addicted to some real moves on Tata Sky Active Kids Games where she just keep egging old grandma to move from level to level.. I even managed to eavesdrop on their conversation last midnight as they kept discussing between stories from the Ramayana as to how they could maneuver to the next level !! Am positive it beats any corporate boardroom planning, and boy did they succeed today, and how !
The child now promises her grandma that once she moves to the 17th level on Actve kids Game called “Zor lagaa ke”, she would treat her grandma with a surprise! Shouldn't be surprised if she even ensures her parents get one gift just to keep up her promise to good old grandma …children are known to highly value promises – both given by and to them
…. To the next gen Y or Z or A or B, one thing is for sure – they outlearn our learning patterns by a whole revolution ! cheers :)

Sweat it out ...man !
Honestly, nothing prepares you for a journey. . be it Bangkok or Chennai or even good old chembur :)
This recent trip to Chennai was tempered with one of the best in-house saunas I have ever experienced in recent times: available 24 * 7, 265 days a year..ok, to savour the grime and this literal downpour of sweat, there are some conditions :
a) You need to be in proximity to any heated body – cooking stove, geyser hot water, or even eco friendly Sun (surya deva)
b) While the experience will vary with the kind of clothing u r wearing, any non-cotton stuff will do the trick with the SQ (sweat quotient) rising from 0 – 100 ml in less than 20 secs – success guaranteed :)
c) It also greatly helps if u have three troublesome toddlers with whom u need to alternate the roles of a drill sergeant, match referee and a mom/aunt - the energy and anger spent in doing so shall greatly influence the type and amount of perspiration in your body !
d) While outdoor picnics that seem to commence only at 11 am right through the blissfully scorching sun is optional, please note even SPF 50 sunscreen cream will not help- its better to go to Australia and get the direct Ozone radiation !
e) Shopping in T Nagar can get quite long, tedious and (yes) sweaty if you promise to go in the supposedly off peak hours @ Saravana Stores (that seems to sell everything except your mom and dad look-alikes) from 9:30 am to 4 pm (or is that peak hours)… the number of oodles (and puddles) of sweat and grime you might generate DOES NOT get washed away with the rather hard water for bathing that Chennai is famous for !
f) ..and hey, I almost forgot – we mortals being used to the rather dirty water of Mumbai, Chennai water actually doesn’t quench your thirst – even if u have the rather mis spelt ( and therefore locally produced) “BISLERE” ! They are quite brand conscious u see – only top of the line names!
Which actually brings me to saying that there are actually a zillion ways in Chennai (or probably even TN) that u can spell the name “Aishwarya” (not the bachchan silly)…it could range from numerologically altered “Ayishwaryaa” to “AYEESHWARYA” to “Aayiswareeya”… good that the Big B’s son didn’t hail from this land – else, he would have (an identity) or spello crisis throughout !
But would I want to visit this land ever again? U bet, yes! December season (music, mallipoo and masala vada) seems to beckon me with open hands, not to forget the rustling of the silks and flashing diamonds of the maamis . And the white veshtis (dhoti) of the rather subdued (read henpecked ) mamas chaperoning their wives or sisters or moms from sabha to sabha – so lovingly written about in ‘Sruti’ magazine!
Now, that’s another interesting experience worth the wait … till then…its good old Dettol time - didnt their ads say "its a good habit"

(K)notty issues ....
Man generally thinks (assumes) that u see one mom, u have seen them all..however, his creative juices overflow with enthusiasm when he (along with his/her friends) checks out the latest dudes/chicks at college/work....afterall, variety is the spice of life !
But with respect to Hindu (esp Tamil Iyengar weddings , to be precise- somethign Ihave grown up with, literally), I have a submission : no matter the age, social standing, venue or the bride or the groom or anything to do with a hindu wedding, I must admit its ALLLLLLLLLLLLL the same ! Right from the nischiatartham to the coconut (play) at the end of the muhurtham its like shutter-click-shutter-click- .... and one could replace the bride and groom (with new sets of bride-groom) and I can assure you with veracity that they all look stunningly and astonishingly similar !! Upto the slightly yellowed dhoti of the groom to the way the hair is parted (or fallen apart) to the MIL applying (read streaking) the poor SIL’s eyes with kajal (chambor or to the (now ancient sounding) brick red madisaar podavai that somehow looks that the cat has dragged the bride to its end ... and the bored looking audience!!
Of course, in the initial years, as a youngster dragged to these weddings along with my grandparents meant manna to me - it meant days of bunking school and coming home (call it lugging) with plastic bags of vettalai packs of coconut , dried betel leaf(which got passed on to the maid, somehow), probably a rupee or so (which in promptly went into our rust coloured post office shaped piggy bank) and yes, the icing on the cake (not literally, stupid) the laddoo and khara boondi (which was the prize for attending the function, which needless to say would melt in our mouths (or be stored in little plastic days to be distributed – this quantity being directly proportionate to the proximity of ur relationship with the bride/groom, pref the former) !
Not to forget that the ladies back home once back from the weddings would compare the texture, colour and quality of the blouse pieces (recvd as gifts in innocuously packed in little brown paper covers – the paper covers later migrated to zip locs for those NRI type weddings), and you could consider lucky (even luckier than the bride?!) if your mom/aunt /grand mom received these from the bride’s mom (or the groom’s) .... it’s almost a sin to refuse these....although I heard that recently NRIs have migrated to swarowski (sic!) as return gifts ! Sometimes, makes me wonder why we as parents cringe when our little one wants return gifts for her/his birthday! Haven’t we demonstrated that a little pampering is good for our egos ?
But, really the male counterparts who do most of the running around (ferrying us to and from the venue, the groom, father of the bride /groom, the best boy(s)) don’t really get much in return, except probably a few (decently) decked females scurrying around as if it were the G9 conference in attendance!
It only makes is realise that we have gone through several stages of evolution at these weddings - from (a) stealthily stealing those laddoos into your mouth in your childhood to (b) stealthily stealing glances at wannabe-husbands- and ogling males in your teens to (c) discussing which ‘aunty’ was the most badly dressed in your late teens again to (d) declaring to yourself that you need to have a better wedding (read flashier / hotter groom) in your early twenties to (e) declaring that you would fund you own wedding once u earn the rokda to (f) settling for a grander wedding than you thought and discarding your holier-than-thou thoughts of a simple temple wedding having given into threats, endearments and what not from the grand aunt you never thought existed) in your (hopefully) early thirties to (g) discussing why a man/lady shouldn’t marry once you have had your second blood mary or single mart, depending on your gender (or not) !
Man (and woman) does truly evolve !!
Oh ! and did I miss out to stage H, I, J (which incidentally begin with hoarding gold/money/ULIPs for your daughter’s wedding) slowly evolving to .....
....and the great Indian saga continues..... ..not to speak about Inter culture (clutter?) weddings that are oh-thats-the-norm-sweetz nowadays, but let me save that for the next blog...
Till then, ur son/daughter would be busy updating his/her blog on FB/twitter declaring (and almost ensuring u positively faint) "I Do" online to someone u positively dont approve! Global Village, anyone?

Global Village, anyone?

thamasoma jyotirgamaya (lead us from darkness to light)
Elements of darkness, shrouded with fear
the fear of the unknown with the lure of the dawn...
For whither we live , the passages there, is
there a light really at the end of the tunnel?
Economics making perfect sense, laughter a little more,
Anxiety in that underbelly tugging at ur heart, and more.
Leisure I have learnt, is a state of mind. For
the mind is still at peace even in a mumbai train.
To train the monkey within, to train yourself, a little
a slippery puddle there, a slip here, is all part of the game !
For I must know that my direction is set, to many whom
it seems aimless, directionless or with no purpose,,
To just be yourself, to detach from worldly pursuits, this
is a wonderful opportunity, no more..
No fear anymore, the anxiety is gone,
to welcome the sunshine every single morn...
To rise and fall and wish for a miracle,
isnt all this part of life's cycle?

Home school
It is strange but true that child is the father of man(or woman). In every respect. To teach patience, tolerance, respect, truth, honesty and many more virtues generally considered the stronghold of human existence. My daughter, all of 5 years (or less with a few months to her 5th birthday) has taught me all that and more. Not only to me, but to all ‘adults’ in the family – incl her grandmom and dad.
Which is funny actually, coz she thinks she is emulating all these qualities (or rather learning) from us. But in reality, we (re) learn these from her. In every sense of the word. Her anecdotes range from the obscure to her outsourced activities @ school (perhaps this outsourcing gene is a gift from her dad !)…
Full of innocence, she relates her while day to us (till the wee hours of the morning to her grandma of course)on how she managed to get brownie points from the homeroom teacher, to what menu she has planned for her birthday to why she doesn’t want to ride her (newly acquired) bicycle, to what exotic (read foreign) locales her classmates have returned from , to why her classmate is angry at her dad (for not having fed her breakfast that morning )
Whew! Combined with Tom & Jerry, Chota Bheem and “ the new adventures of Hanuman”, its almost like running a crèche! And am not complaining. After years of seeing her awake only for a few hours, thereby missing out on critical and exciting milestones , I finally gave in to be a full time mom to help her with her learning…
Which has ended in she rather teaching me a lot about life, its simple pleasures and the fun involved in just not doing anything ‘monetary’ – a junior Seth Godin, perhaps..its time for me to take “The Dip”
Ciao...and cya soon !

required : Human VAS services !
A tryst with an astrologer / fortune teller (even a parrot in good old India) is like going to your gynaec who has delivered you from ur mother :) She knows what you looked like (or didnt) in the first few hours of ur touchdown with Planet Earth, who you resmbled (or didnt) and how they always found the newborn to resemble someone who is probably a good two generations behind you !
Anyways, astrolgers can do more than that - they throw loaded words at you, and combined with the malefic (or mysteriously friendly) planets at you in full throttle, so much that one begins to wonder if Planet earth and all the ozone depletion isnt that bad at all !!
Astro gazng into the past - this is the easiest.. present they can do better coz once they know ur D.o.b, any previous referals to Linda goodman, and soon you find nodding to all the conjured images of your persona, your gynaec histrory and what not..
Except that they dont tell u anythign FOR SURE of what lays in the future..its almost like the mumbai ( or any other city's) met dept sayign its gonna be sunny when all you can see is the August rain laden clouds roaring while you drive (cursing the road traffic) to office!
They even tell u what u need to wear (now, dont get any more ideas...was referring to the gem stones) in which finger down to the caratage that would auger well with your persona ( or is it your skin ?!)
Which brings up the point -why dont they just bring in the entire servies dept while at it : doctors (to heal all the further illnesses), lawyers (for all present, past and future legal issues incl property engagements/disputes), gemmologist (for the stones, silly), a mandir replete with the entire Hindu pantheon , courier services for those esteemed NRI clients , and , u guessed it right a panditji to conduct the numerous havans/pujas that u r expected to perform!
Quite a VAS service that would be... Is anyone listening? Or is the entire drama a psychological gimmickry ! btw, please spare the poor parrot ! Trainign is everything...its always trained to pick the most 'gullible card to add to the 'trap' :)

QED (simbly questioning) !!

yup! after procrastinating enough , and being lazy and (hopefully) overcome the writer's bloc , finally managed to sign in today - question is : "does habit make a man?" or "does man make a habit"? ... Life's questions confront you , well, all the time:
- Is it considered rude to be truthful?
- Are u making a compromise by stating the facts everytime?
- Is tact a weapon or a necessity today?
- Are friendships defined by lunch meetings( and more imp decided on who picks up the tab (( or doesnt))?
- Is marriage a compromise/fight from start to finish?
- Is it ok to trust yourself lesser than you trust otehrs (esp ur near and dear)
- what defines ok?
- if you havent read MG's "my Experiments with truth" till date, is it an offence to the father of the nation?
- What defines motherhood? sacrifice? supreme love? discipline? putting yourself last?
- what is the link between love, like and lust ? Do only the mind and body decide this- or is there something else?
- Who determines what is fashion?
- Does money determine how much you can spend for urself EVEN IF you are currently out of a job?
- Is it absolutely necessary for both parents to work? Is a sit-at-home father as accepted (and viable) as his wife who is a homemaker? Will the child still be looked after well?
- What determines your attitude towards life? upbringing? social influences? circumstances? hurdles? risk taking ability ?
whew! looks like Feb is bang on (with qns , qns and more qns)...! answers hopefully will start trickingly trickle before I hit my next birthday (oops, thats around the corner).. cake, anyone?1

a MOT new year :)
hi! welcome to the new year :)
now what is MOT -a "moment of truth" -something that is referred to in training as "one defining moment for anyone -customer/client/humans !:) and it certainly happened last eve (1st eve to be precise)...
For it confirmed what I was (not anticipated/hoped) mentally prepared for a long time now : more than borderline diabetes....(yup! came in my blood report for fasting!!)
And the family was nodding its head almost telling me they saw it coming too! (in fact, its good that we are faced with facts, their mannerisms seemed to be telling me)..
but for me, I dont know- what they call IFG (see, a little Google doesnt hurt!) - IFG =Impaired fasting Glucose : thats the condition that google threw up! Its not exactly diabetes mellitus but could lead to type 2 very soon if not set right..
So, that leads me to find if my GP is available on a new year weekend...along with a million other things to do today (visitors/ a birthday party invite to attend/clean up cupboard/repair camera/visit to the bank!!) ha ha.. does it still make sense to 'live for the moment' as hubby often preaches ? :)
Is my GP listening??
To health, fitness and yoga this2010!
cheers!
